Food and Essentials

The nearest supermarket is Tesco’s in Langport, approx 1.5 miles from Swallow Barn. (Turn right out of Swallow Barn then left at the top of the hill, to the T junction, turn right and keep straight on at the roundabout, Tesco’s is on your right after about half a mile. It isn’t huge but generally caters for all your day to day needs.

In the centre of Langport there are a very good bakers (Excellent range of pasties) and butchers. Langport also has a Post Office and a Natwest bank.

The Pitney Farm Shop (Approx 0.5 mile TA10 9AP) is one of the best farm shops in Somerset and offers a superb range of locally sourced organic produce open 9.00 – 5.30 except Wednesday and Sunday.

Larger supermarkets are available in Street (approx 7 miles) where there is a Sainsburys and Taunton (approx 16 miles) where you will find a Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys.

For a real shopping experience Clarks Village at Street is a must for a huge selection of some of the UK’s best brands many at bargain prices.

At the other end of the scale Wells market day is a great day out. This huge market offers almost anything from organic food to jewellery, pottery to books and it all takes place in the heart of this wonderfully preserved medieval cathedral city. Market days are Wednesday and Saturday.
